For most of us when we go looking for a new mobile phone, our eyes are always drawn to the two big names – Apple and Samsung. There are lots of great phones out there but these two are definitely topping the charts. So what makes them so great and how do they compare to each other?
Looks
The looks of both of these phones show their quality of design just by casting a glance in their direction. The S7 uses glass and metal and measures 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm, weighing just 152 grams. This makes it just a touch bigger than the iPhone 6 which weighs 143 grams and measures 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm. The iPhone uses an aluminium case that has a polished finish which looks very stylish but some owners have said slips from the hands a bit so a case is often added.
The S7 screen is the larger at 5.1 inches and it has a higher resolution where the iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen with a 720p pixel count so the S7 definitely wins that one. The Samsung flagship phone also includes a microSD card slot and the entire phone is waterproof to 1.5 metres depth for half an hour.
Performance
Looks are importance but we all know it is performance that matters! The S7 uses the Samsung Exynos 8890 processor in most parts of the world, apart from the US where they use the Snapdragon 820. Either are a big improvement on the previous version of the Galaxy with as much as a 30% improvement. It also had a memory upgrade and now has a sizeable 4GB of RAM.
The iPhone has a dual core A9 chip and a smaller 2GB of RAM. This is comparative to the S6 spec so means it lags behind the S7 in terms of performance. However, for the majority of everyday tasks, the iPhone still performs brilliantly.
For storage, the S7 has a large 32GB of internal storage and does have the microSD card but unfortunately, this doesn’t act as an extension of the internal capacity. The iPhone comes with three different levels of storage – 16GB, 64GB and 128GB – so you can go for the one that suits your needs.
Apps
For many of us, apps are the defining factor in the choice of what phone we want. Using apps to do everything from a spot of shopping to checking our bank balance has become a standard practise. Apple has always had the edge in the apps market, though most of the big names now offer a version of their app for both phones.
According to online gambling giant M88, use of their site through both operating systems yields similar results and allows people to access their poker games fluidly and without any issues. Examples can be seen with sbobet. Many other companies report the same.
In terms of numbers, last year saw 1,600,000 apps available in Google Play store while there were 1,500,000 in the Apple Store. So realistically, while there might be a few apps different between the two, these huge stores mean there are always plenty to choose from.
