Considering visiting Canada in 2018? Here’s a quick list of spots you may not have thought about, but are guaranteed not to disappoint:
Niagra Falls:
From the falls themselves to the casino scene to the great hotels and nightlife, Niagra Falls has a little bit of something for everything. It’s a family destination at which nobody in the family will get bored.
Seeing the falls themselves is amazing already, but they also have regularly scheduled laser shows, so be sure to catch one when it’s happening.
Montreal:
It’s often been said that Montreal is the best city in the world in which to be a student, but what’s equally as true is that it’s also a top notch city for tourism.
The list of reasons why a tourist needs to visit Montreal could practically break the internet but, just to sum up quickly: Festivals, amazing nightlife, some of the world’s best gastronomy, incredible architecture, and let’s just mention that amazing food one more time!
If you are there during the late spring, try to make it out of town for a sugar shack (cabin a sucre) experience. During the summer, there is of course the famous Montreal Jazz Festival, and the summer months are also an ideal time to get away for a few days to what they call the townships, heading towards the Maine border, for some wild Quebec style country living.
Whistler:
This is absolutely a skier’s paradise. The world is full of prime ski destinations, but many people feel Whistler absolutely smashes the rest of them, both in the sheer number of runs and in their incredible quality.
Not to mention, the drive from Vancouver along the famous Route 99 (dubbed the “sea to sky highway” by the locals will leave you breathless and in awe. Some might say the drive itself is worth the experience.
Banff:
This Canadian national park was the site that hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics. Banff has just about more outdoor activities all year around than any other place you can imagine. You have canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, swimming, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, the list just goes on and on. Accommodations in Banff are far from cheap, but they are worth every penny, as you will never forget your experience here.
Prince Edward Island:
This one is a little different from the other spots, and that’s why I’ve saved it for last. It’s extremely out of the way, and not really on the map for tourism at all. But it has its own kind of unique charm.
This is not a place for a party vacation, you will find no crowds, no major attractions, nothing of the sort. What you will find is a beautiful green island inhabited by some of the most beautiful people you have ever met, and in many ways, it’s like getting into a time machine and going decades into the past.
