The brand new Tune Hotel’s Paddington
location is for those budget travelers who still value style, location, and comfort. The Tune Hotel brand has been setting the standard recently by offering quality accommodations at unbeatable prices. That sounds like a paid advertisement but its not. Tune Hotel offers the real deal.
Location
I walked just about 400 metres from London’s Paddington Rail station and the Heathrow Express to reach the front door of the hotel. If I am staying at a budget hotel you can bet I am not forking over my weight in pounds for an expensive taxi ride there. The Tune Hotel brand takes that into account as its distance to public transport is great. The Circle, District, and Hammersmith tube lines are well connected with the rest of London.
From the hotel I was able to quickly reach a handful of important places by foot. I saw the London Zoo and Hyde Park. I was also able to grab some grub and dessert on Edgware Road and Oxford Street. If you stay for the weekend you can’t miss the Portobello Market
which I wrote about last year.
Facilities
I entered the hotel lobby to find a sleek interior with a well intentioned design to fit the standards of modern London. The red sofas were a nice place to plan my day with a cup of coffee in hand.
Check-in was quick and simple. I even got to watch the Dali Lama being interviewed while the friendly receptionist handed me my key card and instructions.
The hotel is six floors high with an elevator that lead my room. The hallways were encouragingly spotless unlike most other budget hotels.
This is not my first time in a Tune Hotel so when I entered the bedroom I was not surprised to findĀ a small but tidy room. I was disappointed that this room looked almost exactly the same as the other room I had stayed in because I was looking for a little more character. But the layout and design is more or less the same and for good reason. While the bed was on the smaller side it easily made up for its comfort. I had a hard time judging the difference between this bed and others found in five star hotels.
The bathroom next to the bed but because of the cool looking door it blended into the surroundings very well.
Services
Like all Tune Hotels you pay for what you use. All amenities are available like Wi-Fi, luggage storage, daily cleaning, hairdryer, in room safe, towels, and TV. That is understandably part of the reason why they can charge so little of a base price to stay here. I find it really fair because the only services I actually used were the Wi-Fi and towels. With such an excellent location I spent most of my time exploring nearby London attractions.
The Verdict?
Yes. It’s a great location, stylish rooms that make great use of the small space, and is cleaner than any other comparable hotel. There is nothing to complain about when the price makes this an absolute steal. I personally prefer the Liverpool Street Tune Hotel
location as it is more suited to young professionals like myself. But as far as Tune Hotel goes, I would easily stay here again in an expensive city like London where affordable and quality rarely go in the same sentence.
