Is there anywhere on Earth more fascinating than Rome? Just the name alone conjures imagery of fantastic architecture, romantic cityscapes, and of course, the litany of famous historical figures to have hailed from this magnificent city. If there is one place I would recommend visiting, it would unquestionably be Rome. I mean, to be able to stand on the same soil (well maybe not the exact same soil, but you get the idea) that was once trod upon by the likes of Julius Caesar is overwhelming to say the least.
Being an American, I’m not very used to things that are old. And when I say old, I mean OLD. Sure we have our traditions and heritage – and we’re damn proud of them – but the University I went to was older than the country it was in by about 100 years. Visiting Rome was quite a historical shock. I got to see buildings with my own eyes that have been standing for almost 2,000 years. I’ll say it again. 2,000 years. If you, like me, are completely blown away by this fact, there’s no better advice I can give than to recommend you visit right away.
Really, the trip may not be as expensive as you might think. There are some great deals out there, especially if you know where to look. Oh-Rome
has some fantastic deals online, and they work tirelessly to make sure that your stay in the Eternal City isn’t spent worrying about the little things. They offer the best selection of self-catering apartments in the city, and I personally recommend checking their website out if you have any plans to visit the Italian Capitol in the near future.
All there is to be said about this utterly majestic city is that it is something that you have to see for yourself. So get out there and do it.

Hi Andrew,
I couldn’t agree more with your post. To me, it’s mind-boggling when you think about 2,000 years. In fact, it goes back even further!
Kudos on the great work on your site.
