Every year New Years Eve arrives and I typically delay making plans – leading to no plans at all. This year is no different as I still consider how to celebrate best celebrate in Philadelphia (this is where I live). In past years I have celebrated New Years Eve in London, Colombia, and other forgettable cities around the world.
Last year I rang in the new year with my buddy in Las Vegas midway through our road trip around America’s west coast (California, Vegas, and Mexico). Remind me to tell you about Tijuana sometime.
Nearly a year has passed by and I am ready to share some photos from that night. After looking at cheap hotels in Las Vegas,we booked a few nights at the Quad Resort and Casino for under $45 a night. This price included Michael Jackson.
Like most of years, we skipped out on the big parties that featured Nicky Minaj and other big music acts we found on Vegas.com and through a club promoter we met in L.A. Rather, we left our partying to the last minute counting down the seconds until 2013 arrived on the Las Vegas strip.
But we did see Cee Lo Green the night before after passing a $20 to the Cheateau club bouncer. Thanks man!
With the seconds ticking away, open bottles of liquor being passed around, and little girls shrieking; we looked around for our NYE 2013 lucky kiss.
And then we looked down and scrapped those plans when we realized that families, teenagers, and ourselves were the only kind of people not already inside one of the many club parties.
We booked it to one of the poor-man clubs with little to no cover and made do with our lack of planning.
We danced. We drank. We gambled spent money. We ate. Is that not the point of Las Vegas?
Happy new years. I hope 2014 treats you as well as 2013 has treated me. What a year.
