If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Bali? Malaysia? Australia? Or would you go to the fun and sun destination that every child the world over dreams of visiting? I am of course talking about Florida, and Orlando especially.
You could argue that Orlando used to be one of those once in a lifetime destinations, but with the lowering costs, and now plenty of cheap flights to Orlando, this is somewhere that is more like a once every two years kind of destination, meaning more and more of us can visit the US home of Mickey Mouse.
Cutting costs is now more important than ever before, and it’s quite easy to do this if you’re clever with the add-ons to your travel plans. I recently booked Gatwick parking with Holiday Extras, and I found this saved me not only time, but also money too. The more you can save pre-holiday, the more you have to spend once you’re there, which is highly important if you want to enjoy yourself to the max.
If you want to make the most of your time in this fun and sunshine destination of every child and big kid’s dream, then you need to plan carefully. Know what you want to see before you go, decide when you’re going to do it, and then don’t be tempted to stay in bed until mid-day because you’re tired, otherwise you’re going to miss half the day, spend too long queueing, and completely miss the point entirely.
An Orlando holiday isn’t going to be restful, and you need to make peace with this idea before you leave the house. There is no point in thinking you’re going to spend the entire holiday glammed up and tottering around in heels either, because comfort is certainly the way forward! The first time I went to Orlando, I spent the two weeks following thinking I needed another holiday to get over it! Despite that, it was full of memories and a holiday that I truly enjoyed.
If you’re travelling with children, planning your holiday to include a rest day is more important still. If your hotel or apartment has a pool, which more often than not they will, then you need to take advantage of this and have a day relaxing and splashing. Exhaustion makes people irritable, and breeds tantrums!
Planning is key, taking full advantage of every second of your days there, and capturing every memorable moment with a photograph – these are the must dos for every Orlando holiday.
