A Day At The Buenos Aires Race Track

September 14, 2019 by Jason B.

A few weeks after arriving in Buenos Aires I went to the Palermo Hipodrom racetrack with some friends from my house.

A few weeks after arriving in Buenos Aires I went to the Palermo Hipodrom racetrack with some friends from my house. The track was enormous and actually built all the way back in 1876.

We questioned some old men who seemed to know their stuff as they pointed out which horses were the favorites on the sheet.

I watched my friends place their bets at one of the kiosks. I know nothing about horse racing and chose to just watch instead of inevitably losing money on one of the horses. Besides, i’d rather lose my money in the slot machines at the casino just a short walk away.

The horses began warming up or whatever this thing is called where they walk around in a circle before the race.

I did not take any photos of the actually race but it was about as exciting as one could imagine…horses racing.

I did get to pet the horse after the race though and did lose 20 pesos in the slot machines!
