Avignon, France Anyone?

April 19, 2020 by Jason B.

Avignon

is a non-typical, cute little French city. It was nice enough for the Popes to settle when exiled from Rome in the fourteenth century. What these Italian holy men left was a grand, Gothic palace.

The world’s largest Gothic edifice

But I digress because when you visit places like India for their palaces. Not a small city in France. Instead, you must visit Avignon for what it’s most famous for now. Plus, you still have time.

The Theatre Festival begins in July. I’m not talking about awful vintage French movies. It’s the street performers, actors, musicians, and out of place tourists. All of this while attending some of the best inside the aforementioned palace.

If there were ever a place to find inspiration to travel it is here. Now.

You’re probably filled with romanticism of train travel. It can indeed be a soothing experience. Or reading a book in one Avignon’s many outdoor cafes slowly savoring a chocolate croissant. You feel hungry for what we know as the finest cuisine in the world. Not just stinky cheeses. I have now covered the can’t miss event of the year and given you the sexiest way to get there on the train.

You can always stay at hotel or a posh villa. Plus lots of free entertainment. And you can stay at a nearby PPA properties. Of course if you’re a baller Avignon has world renown theaters and restaurants. See you there, I hope.
