Many people feel that cruises are only for retirees. This is a silly idea. When I had just gotten out of college, ready to travel the world, my first plan of action was to get on a cruise.
So okay, it was mostly because I accompanied my mom and step dad on one, and it was a graduation gift, which I would be crazy to turn down. I can’t deny, however, that it fueled my desire to travel even more. It helped me get a peek into the travel life. It felt like riding the bike on training wheels. Especially because of the endless safety demonstrations and drills complete with panic inducing alarms.
But I’m not giving it justice. While cruise safety protocols and demonstrations did feel like a buzz kill, that soon changed when I got settled in. Just check out the amenities and explore all the possibilities of relaxation.
Attack that buffet
One of the highlights of cruises is that it endorses full on gluttony. If you are in a decent one you can expect a wide variety of food to wolf down. It is unlikely that you go on a cruise that did not have a buffet. I ate my weight i burgers, ice cream, and chips. In fact, I just ate everything that my ticket would let me.
Enjoy the evenings
There are many on-board cruise activities at night, including dancing, magic shows, and many more. If anything you can just stop by a restaurant and smoke that cigar you’ve saved up for the trip. You will absolutely need to bring your own cigars if you are planning to go on a cruise, especially since they get pretty expensive n board. Cohiba cigars are available online through this link. Just be reminded that cigar smoking policies are different depending on the ship.
Do absolutely nothing and everything
One of the pleasures of a cruise is the feeling of floating. I find this incredibly relaxing. On top of this, having a great book, chilling on the deck while working virtually or getting on hot tubs or probably just getting some sleep – makes for a pretty awesome itinerary.
So cruises are a bit more luxurious, but it doesn’t make it weak sauce at all. In fact, when you are out doing more backpacking you’d probably be wishing you’re on one again.
