The Voiles de Saint Tropez is the final regatta of the Mediterranean sailing season; it welcomes a stunning fleet of classic and modern yachts to compete in the Gulf of Saint Tropez, providing a fantastic regatta yacht charter opportunity for those wanting to participate in the racing action or admire it from afar. The 2017 edition will run between the 30th September and the 8th of October, with over 300 spectacular sailboats and around 4,000 crew transforming the glamorous destination of Saint Tropez into an end-of-season sailing festival.
The Gem of the Mediterranean: St Tropez
It is perhaps the most photogenic sailing regatta of them all, with some of the most beautiful yachts of the last century clustered in the pretty port of Saint Tropez – its cobbled waterfront teeming with sailors and spectators, yacht Owners and tourists. A St Tropez yacht charter
during the regatta is one of the most sought-after sailing experiences on the Mediterranean calendar, whether you’re wishing to charter a racing yacht and battle it out for a trophy or simply spectate from the deck of a luxury yacht

A Stunning Variety of Competitors
The Voiles de Saint Tropez is an event unlike any other on the international sailing calendar; it brings together yachts of over 120 years in age as well as the most innovative high-tech Wally performance sailing yachts
. The racing is split into three major groups: Modern, Traditional, and Wally categories. From here, the groups are split into 19 different racing classes, each of which sees yachts competing for a coveted trophy: the Rolex Trophy for the Classics, the BMW Trophy for the Wallys, and the Edmund de Rothschild for the IRC group.
A Race to Remember
The early autumn weather normally provides fabulous sailing conditions, with blue skies and good breezes offering exhilarating sailing experiences – whether racing or spectating. And because of the variety of racing and the notoriety of this much-loved regatta, the event attracts many world-class sailors, from Olympic sailing medallists to solo round-the-world competitors, America’s Cup sailors and Volvo sailors.
Fun-Filled Festivities
Due to the fact that the Voiles de Saint Tropez
closes the Mediterranean sailing season, a yacht charter in St Tropez is the last chance to witness the yachts compete before many cross for the Caribbean yachting season and distant adventures. The sight of the classic yachts – their billowing cream canvases and varnished wooden details – streaking across the Bay of Saint Tropez under the rolling hills of Provence is one of the most stunning spectacles of the sailing world. The buzzing bars of Saint Tropez and the festivities of the race village make one’s experience of the event even more memorable. For most, it is the last hurrah of the season, and the celebrations are fittingly euphoric; this is a regatta imbued with an infectious enthusiasm, good-natured rivalries, and a bittersweet nostalgia for summer passing.
From where can I watch the race?
The best views of the regatta can be enjoyed from sea, as the race leaves the Bay of St Tropez and heads towards Cannes. The yachts leave the Port of St Tropez at 10:00am or 11:00am each day, and return around 3:00pm. Some of the best views from land are afforded from the dyke that juts from the Old Port of St Tropez.
St Tropez Yacht Charters
One of the most popular yachting regions in the Mediterranean, the Bay of St Tropez has long attracted the superyacht set with its promise of bright sunshine, azure waters, and a culture of glamour. Replicating the luxuriousness of the destination through its plush interior and timeless design, M/Y SHERAKHAN
is available to charter in St Tropez this summer. Her classical-inspired exterior design harks back to yachting’s romantic past, yet her array of modern amenities makes her the perfect modern charter vessel. Unusually, M/Y SHERAKHAN can accommodate up to 26 guests – perfect for a corporate yacht charter
or a large group of family and friends. She comes equipped with a large selection of water toys: two ribs, a classic Dutch sloop, wave-runners, jet-skis, surfboards, a wakeboard, an 8m inflatable slide, and towables. Her onboard health club appeals to those with a penchant for pampering, while the 7m atrium and the 18-person Jacuzzi appeals to everybody.
