South Africa is a gorgeous country with lots of good to see. It’s also one that has something of a troubled history that can put people off it. I think this is a shame and not one that’s entirely necessary. There is a high level of crime to be wary of. However, if you stick to the tourism destinations, it can be one of the most memorable places in the world to visit. In this article, we’re going to look at where to go in South Africa and how to get the best out of it.
Keep safety in mind
The first thing that you really should have in mind through your journey is safety. If you’re making it a road trip, do it with someone experienced guiding you through. Avoid those crowded situations like protests, which can get out of control rather quickly. Similarly, be vigilant to your surroundings when leaving crowded area. There are less innocuous risks, too, such as the food you eat. For one, avoid drinking tap water if you can.
The Cape Peninsula
Now we’ve got some of the necessary doom and gloom out of the way. We can move on to some of the infinitely fulfilling possibilities and locations South Africa has to offer. The Cape Peninsula is one that needs to be mentioned. Cape Town has access some of the most gorgeous parts of the country, such as Hout Bay. A place that’s less frenetic with some gorgeous ocean to take part in with some water sporting activities.
Getting out in the open
There are also a lot of opportunities to get involved with hiking. Take a group with you to some of the fantastic trails that have become popular destinations for tourists in the country. Golden Gates Highland Park is one of those, a safe and incredibly beautiful natural park. It has trials for those of all abilities. For those with kids who want a more casual one-hour stroll. Or those who want to go unguided on more challenging treks.
The animals of South Africa
Africa, as a destination, is much loved for two things in particular. The kind of natural beauty that the beaches of Hout Bay and the rises of Golden Gates offer. And the animals that you can get up close and personal too. Africa, as whole, is moving closer to a more conscientious form of tourism. You can help, them, too. There’s a wealth of chances to volunteer in Africa, particularly involving their wildlife.
Port Elizabeth
If you want a town that makes a perfect tourist destination, Port Elizabeth might be for you. For one, it doesn’t have quite as much of the urban crowding of Cape Town. One of the more underrated stops in South Africa, but it’s also considered the friendliest town with South Africa. You don’t need a lot of money to make a good trip of it, either. A Nelson Mandela pass gives you access to lots of different activities for a low price.
