The Canary Islands are one of the most exotic and picturesque travel destinations, combining the Spanish culture with African and Latin American elements. The island of Tenerife, in particular, summarises everything the visitor needs to dive into this tropical part of Spanish territory.
Booking through Jet2holidays.com you can very easily explore Tenerife and discover its hidden gems one by one. The package includes the flights plus a stay in Oro Blanco
Apartments located in Playa De Las Americas in the South West of the island. This 3 star complex of apartments and leisure facilities (two swimming pools, table tennis, sauna, pool bars, pool table and whirlpool) is more than satisfying for both families, couples, and groups of friends who want to add another unforgettable journey to their wish list.
There is a variety between the different types of apartments offered depending on the visitor’s needs and budget. So, you can pick between a studio-room without balcony suitable for maximum 2 adults, and studios with balcony including 1 bedroom (4 adults), 2 bedrooms (6 adults) or 3 bedrooms (8 adults). You can make yourself at home as all of the studios have a kitchenette, an electric cooker, a fridge, and a lounge. It would be wise to mention that at the beach, which is just a short walk away, you can choose from a variety of sports activities like scuba diving, sailing, water skiing, parasailing and windsurfing. Also, very close to the resort you can find a professional golf course for lovers of the classic game.
The city centre is very close as well, only a few minutes away on foot. If you need to taste something local I would recommend that you visit the two most traditional Spanish-inspired restaurants, which are both located in Adeje. “El Molino Blanco” in Avd de Austria 5, San Eugenio Alto and “La Torre del Mirador” in Avd Alcalde Walter Paetzmann can both satisfy the most discerning appetites.
Imagine if you could combine your holidays with the opportunity to get involved in some traditional festivals and experience the island’s history and customs first-hand. I am talking about the “Corpus Christi” which is actually a celebration of the Eucharist and takes place mainly in La Orotava, 1 hour away by car. It occurs during June and the attendants can join in by decorating and painting the walls or the streets of the town with coloured sand displaying scenes from the Bible.
A little later in the year there is the “Fiesta de la Virgen de la Candelaria”, a celebration dedicated to the Patron Saint of the Canary islands and the city Puno in Peru, during which pilgrims tend to visit the area of Candelaria to honour the Saint. If you decide to visit during mid August when it usually takes place you will witness a folklore festivity surrounded by notes of Latin America’s culture.
Finally, for those with more modern tastes I would recommend the “Ritmos Del Mundo” Festival, which will happen on the 15th of June 2013. As in every year it will include the top artists of the dance music industry of the Canary Islands and around the world, including internationally recognised DJs such as Steve Aoki and Aldair Silva. The event will take place in Siam Park only 15 minutes walk away from Playa De Las Americas.
