I have been so busy here in Ecuador. I am writing this at 8:50 am about to go on a 40k bike ride with a guy I just met at breakfast, from Banos to Puyo.
The first day began as a disaster. I woke up and walked to an internet cafe. All was good until I tried to get back, and of course I got lost. It turns out that there are two locations for my hotel and when I was trying to get back to it, I had the other address.
After I finally made my way back thanks to the help of local strangers, I took my bags and headed to work in a taxi. The office is a nice colonial house and everyone I met appeared to be nice. After meeting everyone, I took a walk…for four hours, wandering around La Mariscal area.
The following day I headed to the beach with my co-workers and about 12 others who signed up for the trip. The ride to the beach took 9 hours but the scenery was spectacular, in a tropical way.
The beach was a lot of fun when we got there. The water was warm and the waves were decent. During the nights we danced to music at small bars on the beach and played some intense card games. We were supposed to go paragliding but it rained the entire day. Instead we just hung out for a while, swam, and I laid in a hammock for hours just enjoying the tropical beach atmosphere. We did the same thing the next day until 3 when we headed back.
