It’s been over eight years since I began backpacking around the world. Traveling as a backpacker soon turned me into a flashpacker. These days, i’m mostly living abroad (Colombia as of October, 2015) with the occasional trips. But having stayed in hostels all over the world from Southeast Asia and Western Europe to cities in Latin America and the Middle East–I am accustomed to meeting other travelers riding their bike on a massive trip from coast to coast.
It’s not uncommon for me to see them fiddling with their bike back at the hostel and later hearing about their bike maintenance issues that range from flat tires to broken chains from rough roads off the Pan American highway down in Latin America. If they don’t already Google bike maintenance and find this article, i’ll be sure to point travelers to this article with this infographic by HalfordsĀ on bike maintenance.
