While most of us will only dream of the untold luxuries of the most expensive hotels in the world, it doesn’t mean we stop dreaming. When it comes to luxury, Dubai’s hotels
are certainly in a class of their own. So, if those dreams came true, what could we expect from hotels in Dubai?
Burj Al Arab
The Burj Al Arab is probably Dubai’s most famous luxury hotel. Opened in 1999, the Burj Al Arab sail-shaped building is an easily recognisable landmark on the Dubai skyline. Made up of 202 suites (there are no ordinary rooms in this hotel), the Burj Al Arab pushes the boundaries of extravagance and decadence.
Each suite is arranged over two floors, ranging from 169 to 780 square metres, and include living, dining and sleeping areas, whirlpool baths and a dedicated butler. The Royal Suite is the most opulent – and the most expensive – and comes complete with four-poster canopy bed on a rotating pedestal, and staircase made of marble and gold.
Guests can enjoy chauffeur-driven rides in a Rolls Royce, taste food created by some of the world’s best chefs, and will generally be waited on hand and foot by hotel staff.
Palace of the Royal Mirage
Guests at the Palace of the Royal Mirage can truly see what it’s like to live like an Arabian king. With stunning design and décor and impeccable hospitality, a stay at this hotel would be an experience not easily forgotten. There are beautifully landscaped patios on the ground floor with indoor palm trees, and each guestroom has its own guilded balcony with views of the sea.
Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort, Anantara
Head out into the world’s largest uninterrupted sand desert, and on the horizon you will see the shimmering mirage of the Qasr Al Sarab. This luxury hotel and resort is situated in the Empty Quarter of the Liwa Desert, offering guests stupendous views over the sand dunes from every room. Guests can dine in any of the four restaurants, and relax in the free-form pool and the decadent spa.
One & Only Residence & Spa
Sticking with the spa theme, the One & Only Residence & Spa is more than just a luxury hotel, it is a relaxing paradise that fills guests with feelings of peace and serenity. The hotel is intimate, and has a certain charm other super-luxury hotels in Dubai can lack, offering guests a private escape and a truly relaxing getaway. Guests can enjoy a stroll down the hotel’s private beach, a massage and an array of other spa facilities.
Shangri-La Hotel
Another hotel that offers a more relaxed and restrained form of luxury is the Shangri-La, a refined oasis in a city that can lean towards over-the-top extravagance. Rooms are beautifully appointed, featuring local artwork, rain showers and deep soaking tubs, while the hotel’s restaurants offer the best in Cantonese and Moroccan cuisine. Guests can relax by the pool, play a game of squash or visit the fully-equipped gymnasium.
