My Move to a New City Strategy

April 26, 2019 by Jason B.

As a prelude to an upcoming article I will write about my living situation in London, I wanted to share a few details about my apartment search. Unlike Medellin and Tel Aviv I speak the local language, English. Therefore, it would seem easy to find myself an apartment in London.

As a former budget traveler, buy now only somewhat of a budget traveler, I still wanted to keep costs reasonable. In Medellin I heard about my apartment through word of mouth and in Tel Aviv my hostel was located next to my apartment that I eventually rented for a couple weeks.

However, in London I wanted to find a short term apartment in a good location. The answer in London were websites like Gumtree where local people post free ads

on the website for anything from apartment rentals to selling belly button lint! In the future this type of search will become my key strategy, including my move to Philadelphia in a few weeks.
